How an aftersales corporate film brings building plots to life: Case Study F&S concept

Still from the corporate film by Pathfinder Studios for the property developer F&S concept, showing a family laughing together outdoors

An aftersales corporate film brings building plots to life by showing not the empty land, but the future life on it. For the property developer F&S concept, Pathfinder Studios conceived and produced an emotional corporate film that buyers proudly show their family and friends after purchasing their plot. Professional actors play the future life on the plot, while real employees show the expertise behind it. This strengthens customer loyalty in aftersales and turns buyers into brand ambassadors.

How do you bring an empty piece of land to life – in changeable autumn weather, no less? This case study shows how concept, direction and flexible production planning turned surveying and site development into a corporate film about the future.

Who is F&S concept?

F&S concept is a leading property developer and site development company specialising in residential neighbourhoods in semi-rural areas. The company supports private homebuilders, developers and local authorities from planning and site development through to the building-ready plot.

Why is a corporate film for property developers a particular challenge?

A corporate film for property developers is a particular challenge because an undeveloped plot has nothing emotional about it at first. Even so, the corporate film for F&S concept had to be moving enough for buyers to proudly show it to family and friends after their purchase. F&S concept wanted to strengthen the period after the purchase – the phase in which buyers look forward to their new home and want to feel their decision was right.

There were two further difficulties:

  • The plots had to become a desirable vision of the future despite changeable autumn weather.
  • Technical services such as surveying and soil analysis needed to build trust rather than come across as dry.

How do you make an empty building plot emotional in a corporate film?

An empty building plot becomes emotional in a corporate film when it shows not what is, but what will be: professional actors play the future life on the plot, while real employees show the expertise behind it. Our corporate film concept was based on a simple idea: ‘A plot of land is the future.’

How does a corporate film show the future life on a building plot?

A corporate film shows the future life on a building plot by having professional actors play the moments that will happen there. Instead of filming empty land, we staged exactly this life: the young couple planning their first home, the family with children playing, the older couple enjoying their free time in the countryside.

How does a corporate film build trust in technical services such as surveying and site development?

A corporate film builds trust in technical services when real employees show them. While actors play the future residents, we show real F&S employees at work. This turns the company’s technical expertise into a trustworthy foundation for its customers’ dreams. Aerial footage also shows the location and the open space of the neighbourhoods.

What role do voice-over and music play in an emotional corporate film?

Voice-over and music link the individual scenes of an emotional corporate film into one story. In the corporate film for F&S concept, a warm, trustworthy voice-over and emotive music convey security and anticipation.

How does a standby production protect a corporate film against weather risks?

A standby production protects a corporate film against weather risks because team, actors and locations are planned so that we can react at short notice to the best weather window. Weather is the biggest risk when shooting outdoors in autumn. Instead of hoping for luck, we therefore set up a standby production for F&S concept.

Our entire focus was on capturing that one powerful feeling: confidence in what lies ahead. That is what moves people emotionally. The task for the director was to guide the actors in an empty place so that viewers can already sense the future laughter of children and the sense of security in their new home.

– Tom Wolt, Marketing Consultant & Director

This project was the ultimate test of agile production. Weather is the biggest risk when filming outdoors in autumn. Instead of hoping for luck, we managed this risk by setting up a ‘standby production’. That gives the client the certainty that we won’t just get any shot, but the best possible one – whatever the forecast says.

What did the aftersales corporate film achieve for F&S concept?

The aftersales corporate film is a complete success for F&S concept: buyers feel confirmed in their decision and proudly show it to family and friends. This strengthens emotional customer loyalty and turns buyers into brand ambassadors who recommend F&S concept to the people around them.

More Information

What can property developers and other companies learn from the aftersales corporate film?

  • Show the benefit, not the product. If you sell a plot of land, a service or a product that needs explaining, the best thing to show is the life that results from it.
  • Combine actors and employees. Actors carry the emotion, real employees bring the credibility.
  • Use corporate films in aftersales. A corporate film that customers like to share after their purchase confirms their decision and works as a recommendation among the people they know.
  • Plan for weather risks. For outdoor shoots, flexible standby planning avoids compromises on the image.
