Is a fixed-price corporate film worth it, or should companies get an individual quote? Read everything about corporate film offers, their pros and cons – and what to look out for when deciding.

The snappy offer: what is a fixed-price corporate film?

“Cappuccino – small, medium or large?”
A question we all know and understand. Bigger cup = more content = higher price. Can this be applied to a fixed-price corporate film in “small”, “medium” and “large”?

Fixed-price corporate films are ready-made offers for companies that want to make a quick decision and have the finished product in their hands soon, without much effort of their own.

Fixed-price corporate films are often also found under the term “corporate film package” – frequently even in different versions, such as “small – medium – large”, “Starter – Business – Corporate”, “Gold – Platinum – Diamond”, or whatever names the providers come up with.

You can always recognise a fixed-price corporate film offer by the fact that the price is already stated. For example:

Your corporate film from just 699 euros. Book your individual corporate film from a professional now.

(fictitious ad copy for a fixed-price corporate film.)

Fixed-price corporate films are very often offered by freelancers and partnerships, less often by corporations. You benefit from low prices, fresh creativity and flexible spontaneity. But you should check their professionalism thoroughly: sole traders and partnerships reach capacity faster than corporations and often have less professional or less fail-safe workflows and processes.

Also watch out for the Künstlersozialkasse (KSK, the German social insurance fund for artists): all invoices from sole traders and partnerships working in the creative sector (e.g. film production, photography, graphics, design, copywriting, PR, advertising) incur a KSK levy at the end of the year (around 4.2% when this article was first written; the rate is set annually and is 4.9% in 2026) – even if the supplier itself is not registered with the KSK. This is not the case for invoices from corporations.

Corporate film packages can be found online for three-figure sums and range from 500 to 5,000 euros. Occasionally, we have also seen fixed-price offers of 5,000 to 15,000 euros. In general, however, the trend is for most fixed-price corporate film offers to be in the lower price segment, with the following characteristics:

  • low fixed price
  • up to 1 shooting day on site, sometimes including interviews
  • no prior planning, so flexible documentary style
  • quick completion thanks to standardised processes
  • little scope for special requests
  • lower price segment

A fixed-price corporate film is therefore a quick and, above all, inexpensive way to get a corporate film. It is, so to speak, the prefab house among homes, or the standard trim of your favourite car.

The big but: standard is rarely individual. And especially in today’s market environment, with oversupply and price pressure, companies need to position themselves with their individual strengths and product benefits more than ever.

Especially if you already have a very specific picture in mind or ideas for scenes and shots, your wishes will probably be hard to realise within the tight corset of package prices. Then you may be better off with a corporate film based on an individual quote.

The alternative: what is an individual corporate film quote?

At their core, corporate films are a service and always individual. That is a good thing, because after all it is about your company, your products and your unique identity. That is why the classic corporate film is based on an individual quote that is tailored directly to you and your company after a detailed (usually free) briefing, consultation or at least an initial phone call.

Corporate films based on an individual quote are right for you if you have an abstract goal but can’t yet define a concrete measure. At the same time, an individual corporate film is the right way to go if you have a very specific scene or shot in mind, as these are hard to realise within the tight corset of corporate film packages.

Corporate film offers with an individual calculation often put the focus on consulting. For example:

Corporate films with an individual quote have the following characteristics:

  • flexible and variable budget (according to your specifications and your goal)
  • variable number of shooting days or other solutions, e.g. animation and voice-over
  • prior planning, so staging is possible
  • sometimes a long process of aligning your wishes and options
  • maximum scope for special requests
  • any price segment

Speaking of price segments – how can it be that you can buy the same product, “corporate film”, for 500 euros and also for 50,000 euros (or even more)?

If you sometimes wonder about that too, here is a short definition of what a corporate film actually is and has to do. If you are already a corporate film expert, simply skip to the next section.

Short definition: corporate film

A corporate film is a film for companies that improves their image. Sounds logical, doesn’t it?

In reality, the term is used by both companies (clients) and film production companies (suppliers) as a synonym for any kind of audiovisual (= moving-image) marketing for companies.

The managing director’s statement? Corporate film. (Actually a video portrait.)
The opening of the new headquarters? Corporate film. (Actually an event video.)
The new product video? Corporate film. (Actually – who would have thought 😉 – a product video.)

Calling all of these a corporate film isn’t entirely wrong. But lumping video portraits, event videos and product videos together is like lumping sports cars, tractors and planes together – or even estate cars, saloons and small cars. Each of these vehicles will get you from A to B, but as soon as factors such as economy, reliability, prestige, equipment or personal preferences come into play, some products or price categories are ruled out straight away. It’s exactly the same with corporate films.

A real, good corporate film always aims to promote your company image positively. Depending on your goal and how you position yourself in the market, an authentic interview can be exactly right – or completely wrong; showing your processes and employees can be really helpful – or put customers off. But don’t worry: this is exactly what film production companies are there for, to advise you on these decisions.

More about the individual corporate film – with examples

Off the peg or made to measure? When which corporate film offer pays off

For the decision at hand – “fixed-price or individual corporate film” – you only need to bear in mind that not every film for companies is automatically a corporate film. That is why it is particularly important to know exactly what kind of “corporate film” you need before you buy – in other words, what goal your corporate film is pursuing.

Then it will also be much easier to decide whether the “standard trim” – the fixed-price corporate film – is enough for you, or whether you would rather book an appointment at the car dealership you trust and have your individual extras shown to you.

Who knows, you may even discover your dream model that you hadn’t even considered so far.

As with everything, it’s best to ask yourself the W-questions for your corporate film too:

  1. WHAT: what goal does your corporate film have?
  2. WHO: who do you want to reach?
  3. WHERE: in what context and medium will your target group see the film?
  4. WHEN: how quickly do you need the film?

If you can answer each of these questions with exactly one answer, a fixed-price corporate film is most likely right for you – and all that remains is to find the right provider.

The more questions you would like to answer with several answers, or are still unsure about, the more you should seek an individual conversation with a film production company you trust.

But test it first! Here are some examples:

WHAT should your corporate film achieve?

The corporate film is one of the audiovisual communication tools in the marketing mix and always aims to present the company’s image positively and improve it externally (or internally).

Possible goals can be:

  1. External communication
    • Becoming more attractive to new customers (quality)
    • Winning as many new customers as possible (quantity)
    • Binding existing customers more closely (quality at the base)
    • Binding major and existing customers more closely (quality in the top segment)
    • Encouraging upselling to existing customers
  2. Internal communication
    • Retaining and rewarding employees
    • Promoting cohesion
    • Training employees
    • Finding new employees
    • Presenting a department / business area positively
  3. Integrated communication
    • Introducing new contacts / managing directors (people)
    • Presenting other business areas/focus (content)
    • Introducing a new culture/behaviours (culture)

You have probably already thought “That’s it!” or “That’s not it!” at many of these points, and you probably already have images and scenes in your head that could fit some of them.

The great dilemma of communication is that you can’t achieve all of these points with one measure. A corporate film, too, has to concentrate on one or a few points – because if you try to address everyone, in the end you don’t really address anyone. As a nice saying goes: “The dog that wants to catch two hares has to let one go and loses the other.”

So when choosing a corporate film, make sure it achieves your goal.

Fixed-price corporate films in particular are often only ideal for very specific uses. As soon as the goal becomes more complex, or if you operate in a complex business field anyway, choose prior consultation if in doubt. At many film production companies, it is even free.

How much does an individual corporate film cost?

WHO should see your corporate film?

The second question is “who?”. With a well-formulated goal, you can derive it from the list above. For the sake of completeness, here again are the most important target groups for your corporate film:

  1. Customers
    • New customers
    • Existing customers (mass)
    • Top/major customers
    • Competitors’ customers
  2. Employees
    • Existing employees
    • Potential apprentices (young applicants)
    • Potential skilled workers (experienced applicants)
    • Top skilled workers (employees of other companies)
  3. Stakeholders
    • Parent and subsidiary companies
    • Investors
    • Managing directors / supervisory boards
  4. Society & politics
    • Politics & local authorities
    • School classes

Each target group has different preferences, which vary, for example, by age, gender and expertise in your business area. Different target groups also place more value on emotion (e.g. beautiful moments, smiles, personality) or rationality (e.g. facts, figures, objectivity).

In addition, each target group uses different media and sees your corporate film in different contexts. That is why the third important question is about where it will be used:

WHERE will your corporate film be used?

In the digital age, almost every corporate film can be used online and on social media – an unbeatable advantage in terms of free reach. But where else can you use your corporate film? Which of your customers and target groups are not online?

Examples of media:

  1. Internet
    • your own website
    • a specific landing page (geared towards sales)
    • employer branding website
    • third-party website (e.g. of a partner / retailer / job portal)
  2. Social media
    • Facebook
    • Instagram post
    • Instagram story
    • YouTube & Vimeo
    • Xing & LinkedIn
  3. Offline
    • Your own reception & lounges
    • Meeting room before presentations
    • on the laptop / tablet in sales meetings
    • at events
  4. Mass media
    • Cinema
    • TV
    • Trade fairs & conferences

Perhaps you already have a tendency or a clear idea of where your corporate film should be found – and where perhaps not. So an important question is where your target group sees your corporate film.

And much more importantly: in what context does your target group see the film? Right at the start of the decision-making process, during an existing business relationship, or even at an internal annual meeting?

There is little point in showing a long-standing employee the benefits of the company culture and flat hierarchies. And you won’t convince a new customer with the latest change at the top and the current quarterly figures either.

So think about the medium and context in which your target group sees your corporate film, and choosing the right corporate film becomes a little easier.

Pros and cons: fixed price vs. quote

Corporate film at a fixed price or with an individual quote?

Admittedly, choosing between apples and pears (fixed price vs. individual quote) is harder than choosing between yellow, red, sweet or sour apples (different fixed-price providers). But for the latter, you have to know that you like apples – and ideally which variety you like best. And it would help if you weren’t intolerant of apples. 😉

Here is another overview of the pros and cons of fixed-price corporate films and individual corporate film quotes:

Fixed-price corporate film: pros & cons

  • focus on budget and content
  • up to 1 shooting day on site, sometimes including interviews
  • flexible documentary style
  • quick completion
  • standardised processes
  • lower price segment

  • fixed package
  • little creative scope of your own
  • hardly any special requests

  • (often) no copywriting
  • heavily dependent on conditions on site (“luck factor”)
  • No (or little) choice of music, voice-over and visual elements
  • film similar to others
  • your own wishes cannot (always) be realised

Individual corporate film quote: pros & cons

  • flexible budget (according to your specifications and goals)
  • focus on goal and function
  • prior planning
  • staged scenes possible
  • variable number of shooting days
  • your own wishes can be realised
  • other solutions possible, e.g. animation/voice-over

Conclusion: corporate film at a fixed price or as a quote?

Whether a fixed-price corporate film or one with an individual quote is right for you is only at first glance a question of budget and quick availability. Above all, it is a question of philosophy – and not least of the right partner and a good gut feeling.

So our tip: think about what goal your corporate film should pursue, compare different offers and choose a provider of your choice.

Our final checklist for you:

  1. Internal: answer the W-questions
    1. WHAT should the corporate film achieve?
    2. WHO will see the corporate film?
    3. WHERE should the corporate film run?
    4. WHEN do we need the corporate film?
  2. Decision: is a package-price corporate film suitable for this?

If yes:

  1. Find a suitable provider
  2. Choose a suitable package
  3. Succeed with the corporate film that suits you

If no:

  1. Contact a film production company you trust
  2. Get an individual quote
  3. Succeed with the corporate film that suits you
